Obituary of James Wilson Dillard

James "Pa" Dillard passed away on June 20, 2012 at age 85. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, in Lebanon on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. The chapel service, conducted by Reverend Rockie Williams, is 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012. Interment in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The family extends a special thank you to Odyssey Hospice. Mr. Dillard was born March 7, 1927 to parents Lamon and Tinnie Grisham Dillard in Smith County. He was educated at Club Springs School and Tuckers Crossroads. Mr. Dillard served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for Bland Casket Company in Lebanon after returning home. In 1949 he went to work for the Coca Cola Bottling Company where he retired with 38 years of service. After his retirement, Mr. Dillard was affiliated with Wilson County Motor Company for 18 years where he was affectionately known as "Roadrunner". Mr. Dillard was married in 1950 to the late Frances June Willard and they were together 60 years. Mr. Dillard is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Maggie Vantrease Dillard, his wife, his son-in-law Mike Linton, great-granddaughter Shaelynn Linton, and brother Odell Dillard. Survivors include two daughters: Debby (Marty) Beaver and Barbara Linton; two grandsons: Brandon and Chris Linton; and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, numerous cousins, and close friends.
