Obituary of Laura Jackson
JACKSON, Laura G., passed away peacefully in her home in Hermitage, TN on December 23, 2011 at the age of 94 after a short battle with cancer. She was born on January 3, 1917 in Chadbourn, NC to Robert and Emma Guyton. She was one of seven daughters. At age 17, she married George Eugene Jackson and they had eight children, Jimmy, Bobby, Nancy, Marylene, Donald, Diane, Theresa and Shelia. After moving to Tennessee she tragically lost her husband in 1961, but continued raising and supporting her four children as a single parent while working as a nurse technician. She worked until the age of 80 while enjoying her home, cooking her flowers, watching birds, enjoying good coffee and sweets, and working in her garden. She remained active and healthy well into her 90's. Most of all she loved the Lord, her children, her grandchildren and all of her family. She was most often heard saying, "My feet don't hit the floor in the morning until I've prayed for my family." She will be missed by all who loved her and those who look forward to seeing her again. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Eugene Jackson. She is survived by sons, James (Anita) Jackson, Bobby (Jeanne) Jackson, and Donald (Alice) Jackson; daughters, Nancy Webb, Marylene Barrett, Diane (Ted) Floyd, Theresa (Bob) Watson and Shelia (Ross) Caroland; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27th at 2 pm at the Mt. Juliet Family Worship Center with Bro. Danny Sellars officiating. Interment will follow the service at Spring Hill Cemetery with Ross Caroland, Brian Caroland, Bruce Jackson, Ted Floyd, Jason McMurrian and Bob Watson serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 26th from 4-8 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet and Tuesday, December 27th from 12-2 pm at the church.
