Obituary of Jewel Maynard Belcher

Funeral Arrangements for Jewel Maynard Belcher, born February 12, 1931, died at her daughters home in Destin FL. Services, conducted by Brother John Hunn, are Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon (at Stone Mansion, 416 Rome Pike). Visitation with the family Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 until service time. Interment in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Dave Gordon, John Porter, Mike Burns, Donnie Gannon, Ken Oakley, and Jimmy Ray Maynard. Honorary Pallbearers: Gertrude Couey, Vicki Gordon, Terry Ashe, Jay Turnage, Claude Maynard, Lillian Lening, Doris Porter, Marie Oakley, Cindi McGee, Toby and Tim Hanna, Sue and Byrd Robertson, Louise Donnell, Janet and Mike Kromer, Sam and Betty Belcher, Virginia Howard, Betty Marler, Sandy Dean, and Charles and Helen Minchey. She was preceded in death by her husband Perry Belcher, parents Horace and Sarah Lee Maynard, and 7 brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters, Donna Belcher of Lebanon TN and Amanda Belcher of Destin FL, granddaughter, Jessica (Chris) Scurlock, and great grandsons Hunter and Eli Scurlock. Jewel was active in Immanuel Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir. She led Precept Bible Study groups where she shared her love for the Lord. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society and served as President of Tennessee Board. She helped others as a Trainer for Reach to Recovery as well as gave support to other surviving cancer patients. Jewel was co-owner of Perry's Restaurant along with her husband Perry for 23 years where they made many friends.
