Obituary of Polly Fay Tidwell

Polly Fay Tidwell, 80, of Lebanon, passed away June 17, 2015, at University Medical Center with her family by her side. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, on Friday from 1-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Kerry Dugan and Brother Jason Harlin, is 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, and will be followed by interment in Wilson County Memorial. Pallbearers: Grandsons. The family extends special thanks to: Dr. Wayne Wells, Southern Manor, Lebanon Health and Rehab, and Dr. Modupe Kehinde. Memorial Donations: Dan and Polly Tidwell Scholarship Fund at Cumberland University. Mrs. Tidwell was born in Greenbrier on July 7, 1934 to the late Forrest and Vera Mae Allgood. She married the love of her life, Daniel Douglas Tidwell, Sr., on September 9, 1949, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2004. Mrs. Tidwell was also preceded in death by four brothers: Billy Allgood, James Allgood, Jerry Allgood, Joe Allgood; and two sisters, Helen Patterson and Dorothy Morgan. Until her retirement in 2007, Mrs. Tidwell was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at Cumberland University where she was commonly known as "Miss Polly" by students and faculty. Most have fond memories of seeing her travel across the university's grounds in "Polly's Trolley," keeping a keen watch over the campus. Mrs. Tidwell enjoyed the company of young students and mentored them throughout their college years. Her love for Cumberland University was only surpassed by her love for her family. Mrs. Tidwell was a faithful member of Christ Church of Gordonsville, where she maintained a strong Christian faith and was never shy about expressing her desire to persuade as many people as possible to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. Mrs. Tidwell is survived by son Daniel (Tammy) Douglas Tidwell, Jr. of Gordonsville; three daughters, Brenda (Robin) Davis of Gallatin, Debby (Johnny) Smith of Lebanon, Tisha (Mark) Saunders of Lebanon; Grandchildren, Dr. Aaron (Mandy) Pryor of Lebanon, Darrell (Heather) Tidwell of Lebanon, Kerry (Brian) Reed of Lebanon, Andy (Mindy) Pryor of Smyrna, Gindy (Scott) Woodward of Gallatin, Trey (Jeannie) Tidwell of Hickman, Brandon (Katherine) Saunders of Lebanon, and Turell Tidwell of Hermitage; and Sixteen Great Grandchildren.
