Obituary of Robert Lee Watson

Bob Watson, born in Rutherford County TN, died June 16, 2015 at The Pavilion, age 93, after a 6 year illness. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Kenneth Bowen, is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, preceded by one hour of visitation. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Murfreesboro TN, immediately follows the service. Pallbearers: Rick Word, Jerry Johnson, Robert Young, Mike Young, Charles W. Watson, Jr., Scott Bowen, and Gary Patton. Upon moving to Lebanon, Mr. Watson sold insurance for Life of Georgia. He started Watson Moving & Storage Co in 1958 with his brother Ellis Watson who later relocated to Murfreesboro with the company evolving into two separate entities. Bob and Grace continued in the moving business until 1981 when they began to transition into storage only with ABG Self Storage. Their daughter Anita joined them in 1991 to run ABG and her affiliated company Data Track, Inc. Mr. Watson was a Charter Member of Westland United Methodist Church, a former board member of Wilson County Help Center, and a member of Gideons International. He loved gardening, raising beefalo cattle, making & refinishing furniture, studying the Bible, talking to others about faith in God and all the many blessings he and his family received, and charity work that he and Grace did through their work with The Gideons and in helping others in need. Mr. Watson is survived by daughter: Anita Watson; sisters: Peggy Watson Young and Mabel Watson McCall; sister-in-law: Frieda Watson; brother-in-law: Gene McCall; and various nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife of 61 years, Grace Lynn Watson, parents Robert Forrest Watson and Mary Pearl Holton Watson, brothers Charles W. Watson and John Ellis Watson, sisters Margaret Lucille Watson and Helen Watson, nephew Harvey Watson, sister-in-law Ruth Vaughter Watson, and brother-in-law Robert Young, Sr. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other gift remembrances that donations be made in honor of Mr. Bob to the Alzheimer's Association (800.272.3900) or New Leash on Life Animal Shelter (615.444.1144) or Country K-9 Pet Rescue (615.444.8011).
