Obituary of Shirley Brown Robinson

Mrs. Shirley Brown Robinson, age 73, peacefully departed this earth on Sunday, September 7, 2014, after a brave battle with ovarian cancer. As she wanted, she passed at home while being cared for by her three daughters. Born in Alexandria, TN, she grew up in Old Hickory, TN, attending and graduating from DuPont High School in 1959. She was married to Louie N. Robinson in 1958 and together they had three girls. While being a devoted wife, mother, and daughter she also had a reputation for being a gracious hostess and a dear friend to many. After her husband's death in 1975 she showed tremendous grace and courage in continuing to raise their children. At an early age she developed a love for music, being an accomplished vocalist and pianist, and more than anything, loved to share her talents at church with fellow believers. A member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Shirley especially treasured the relationships with the members of Nancy Steward's Sunday School class. Shirley was a talented artist as demonstrated by countless sewing, quilting and knitting pieces that graced her home and those of her family and friends. As the devoted daughter of Charles and Bea Brown, Shirley spent many years traveling with and caring for her parents in their later years. After the passing of her parents, Shirley was able to spend extended periods of time in her beloved Smoky Mountains with family, friends and her faithful companion Pee Wee. She is survived by daughters Cindy Robinson (Dee Polidoro), Cassie (Donn) Fishbein, and Christy (Shannon) Neese; grandchildren Jacob Fishbein and Sara Fishbein; brother Kenny (Francie) Brown; special friend Charlie Metcalfe; her beloved furbaby, Alexander "The Great"; and many friends who were a blessing to her as she was to them. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louie N. Robinson; parents, Charles and Bea Brown; infant brother, Johnny Rae Brown; special friend, John Knaus, and precious animal companion, Pee Wee Robinson. A celebration of life will be held at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon, TN on September 10, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Following the service she will be laid to rest at New Home Baptist Cemetery in Boma, TN. Pallbearers are Donn Fishbein, Jacob Fishbein, Mack McCluskey, Chuck Miller, John Rower and Herb Ruck. Honorary pallbearers are the "Knit Wits" Joyce Badger, Katie Benson, Vickie Eatherly, Donna Evins, Lynn Goodman, Lisa Kent, Janet McCluskey, Elmie Ruck, Mary Hugh Skeen, Jan Tatum and Pam Womble.
