Obituary of Helen Janice Hanes

Helen Janice Tuttle Hanes, passed away May 5, 2015. Funeral Service will be Thursday May 7th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Pastor Andy Courtney, Elder Steve Johns, and Brother Freddie Cook officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, with Freddie Cook, Steve Johns, Wendell Tuttle, Tim Patterson, Mike Williams, Barry Beasley, Steve Masters, and Joey Satterfield serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Members of Bledsoe Creek Baptist Church, Virginia Law, Billy Ray and Debbie Simons, Eugene and Earlene Dorris, Freida Carter, Judy Woodard, Karen Celsor, Dee Dee Masters, Ernie Templeton, Melissa Moore, Sharon Roseberry, Mildred Cornwell, Dr. Warren Rose, Charlene Webster, and Parrish Thompson. Visitation will be Wednesday May 6th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday May 7th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. She was born December 30, 1936, in Bethpage and was the only child of Clyde Odell Tuttle and Ruby Nell Templeton Tuttle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband of 26 years, Clinton Hanes. She was a member of Bledsoe Creek Baptist Church for more than 60 years, serving as pianist and treasurer since the death of her father in 2010. She retired from banking after a 42 year career. She loved to travel, visiting many foreign countries, with her favorite being Italy. She is survived by best friends and caregivers, Freddie and Melodie Cook, Whittney, Brittany, and Cooper; devoted cousins, Steve and Linda Johns, Joan Dorris Creasy, Wendell and Margartha Tuttle, Mildred McWhirter, and Lawrence and Martha Earls; nieces and nephews by marriage, Karen, Charles, and Susan Wright, Tim, Lucy, and Wyatt Patterson, and other Templeton-Tuttle cousins. Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
