Obituary of Michael L. Shrum

Chief Petty Officer Michael Lawrence Shrum, Jr., age 35 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015. Funeral Service will be Sunday, March 15th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Michael Shrum officiating. Interment will be at Sumner Memorial Gardens with the Military Personnel serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14th from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 15th from 12:00 noon until time of service. Michael was born October 12, 1979 in Davidson County. He is preceded in death by grandfather, Al Shrum. He is survived by father, Michael Shrum (Missy) of Gallatin; mother, Cindy McKinney York of Lafayette; grandmother, Jean Shrum of Gallatin; brothers, Jonathan Shrum (Brandy) of Gallatin, Timothy Shrum (Tamra) of Bethpage; step-brother, Brandon Williams; sister, Holly Hodges (Brandon) of Portland; step-sister, Beth Williams of Portland; nephews, Addison Shrum, and Jaxon Poole; and nieces, Audrey Shrum, and Abby Shrum. Chief Petty Officer Shrum has 11 years of active military service. He has completed deployments to Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He was currently stationed on the USS Mahan in Norfolk VA.
