Obituary of Felix N. Underwood

UNDERWOOD, Felix N., age 78, died Monday, July 13, 2009 in Cookeville, TN after complications from a long-term illness. Mr. Underwood was born July 13, 1931 in Tishomgo, MS. He was retired from Rand-McNally and the US Postal Service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Black Angus Society. Mr. Underwood enjoyed sports, NASCAR and had a special love for wildlife. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by parents, Hector Lee and Hattie Mae Underwood; sisters, Vivian Lossman and Verna Smith. He is survived by sister, Bess (Phil) Shockley; daughter, Pamela Underwood; son, Michael (Becky) Underwood; granddaughters, Jennifer (Rickey) Norvil and Katherine (John) Childres; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Norvil and Harley and Jolynn Childres; 9 nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Heritage Point, Cookeville Hospital (6 East Staff), Kelly Tayes and the many caretakers and friends who provided loving and considerate care for Mr. Underwood. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17th at 1pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Scotty Miller, Rickey Norvil, Phil Shockley, John Childres, Joe Robison, and Larry Mauldin serving as pallbearers.
