Obituary of James Howard Allen

Reverend James H. Allen, age 86, passed away on December 29, 2013. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and from noon until service on Tuesday. The Funeral Service, conducted by Reverend Kevin Allen and Reverend Scott Armstrong, is 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Interment in Wilson County Memorial immediately following the service. Pallbearers: Michael John Grammer, Erick Creasey, Kevin Allen, Joe Hager, Keith Boykin, Kenneth Boykin, Brandon Allen, and Melissa Byrd. Brother Allen was a minister for the United Pentecostal Church organization since 1958. He was an entrepreneur; he started Sport Outfitters in 1977, and had Tennessee House Movers for over 50 years. At age 77, he moved several of the buildings in Fiddler's Grove. His later years were spent with his family and his last year, he was creating artistic birdhouses. He is now reunited with his sweetheart of 66 years, Verbie Allen. He is survived by children: Verbie Jo (Mike) Davis, Bobby (Joyce) Allen, Janice Cox, and Pamela (Ron) Franklin; grandchildren: Melissa Byrd, Michael John Grammer, Erick Creasey, Kevin Allen, Joe Hager, Keith Boykin, Kenneth Boykin, and Brandon Allen; 6 brothers; 4 sisters; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife Verbie Allen, parents Tommy and "Artie" Lissie Ervin Allen, and two sisters.
