Obituary of Herman Comer

Herman Comer, Jr., age 88, passed away on June 22, 2013 at his home in Lebanon. He was born on February 23, 1925 to the late Herman Comer, Sr. and Nannie "Miss Nancy" Rushing Comer. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sue Trice Comer, infant sister Sarah Comer, and brothers Billy R. Comer and Samuel D. Comer. Mr. Comer spent his career in the television industry, retiring from WSMV, Channel 4. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and member of the Comer Lodge of Watertown. Mr. Comer was a WW II Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in the 39th Special Service Company in the Mariana Islands in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member, serving as Deacon and Treasurer, of Rocky Valley Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters: Nancy L. Comer and Susan (Chris) Haynes; grandchildren: Harrison Comer (Justine) Haynes, Bradley Lee Haynes, and Suzanna Lou Haynes; and great-grandchildren: Chloe, Clark, and Claire Haynes. The family will be accepting friends at Sellars Funeral Home (313 W. Baddour Parkway) in Lebanon from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday. The chapel service, conducted by Reverend Joe Coleman and brother-in-law Reverend Bill Trice, is 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers: nephews Jimmy, Carl and Joe Comer, Terry, Tommy and Tony Trice.
