Obituary of Alan Neal Shates

Alan Shates, age 54, claimed his prize with Christ Jesus on July 15, 2013 after a 22 month battle with ALS. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and son and was a strong man of God. Mr. Shates worked for Ford Glass and was a member of Maple Hill Church of Christ. He is survived by wife of 35 years, Stephanie Shates; daughter: Sunny (Jason) Bybee; parents: Don and Clis Shates; grandchildren: Joshua, Abby Kate, and Jackson Bybee; sister-in-law: Karen (Wayne) Hunter; brother-in-law: Daniel Wright; nieces: Jessica (John) McElroy and Jackie (Josh) Williamson; nephew: Jake (Micah) Hunter; and great-nephews: Finn Hunter and Hunter McElroy. He is preceded in death by son Roger Alan Shates and brother Roger Ray Shates. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
