Obituary of Johnny M. Crabtree

Johnny M. Crabtree, born on March 18, 1938 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sun., Sept. 8, 2013 after fighting a year-long battle with lung cancer. Mr. Crabtree was a resident of Lebanon, TN for 35 years. He was a loving husband, father, and uncle. He is survived by wife of 55 years, Phyllis H. Crabtree, daughter Sue (Tim) Siens of Lebanon, TN, step-grandsons Timothy & Benjamin Siens, sisters Betty Sue Crabtree of Sulphur Springs, TX, Virginia (R.H.) Galloway of Hurst, TX, nephew Russell (Tammy) Galloway of Ft. Worth, TX, nieces Renae (Gary) Toles of Watauga, TX, and Rhonda (Frankie) Moeller of Richland Hills, TX, brother-in-law Kenneth (Anna Lou) Hickman of Lenoir City, TN, nieces Aimee (David) Sexton of Lenoir City, TN, Bekki (Bryan) Campbell of Lenoir City, TN, nephew Michael (Ruth Ann) Hickman of Lenoir City, TN, and niece Jill (Frank) Hall of Lenoir City, TN. He was preceded in death by parents John P. and Susie Oakley Crabtree, and sister Sarah Ann Crabtree, of Sulphur Springs, TX, and sister-in-law Cathy Yearwood, of Lenoir City, TN. Mr. Crabtree served in the U.S. Army. A proud Texas native, he graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, TX, and was the Texas State Vice President of Future Farmers of America. He attended Lee University, Cleveland, TN and the University of Dayton (OH). He retired from civil engineering work with the City of Dayton, OH, TVA, and Bechtel-Savannah River. He also worked for Donelson Home Health in Lebanon. Mr. Crabtree was a partner/owner and employee of Hunters Point Golf Course in Lebanon. Mr. Crabtree attended the Church of God Worship and Ministry Center in Lebanon. Visitation will be held at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon on Tues., Sept. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wed., Sept. 11 from noon to service. The Funeral, officiated by Reverend Gordon Lee, will be held on Wed., Sept 11 at 2 p.m. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery will immediately follow the service. Pallbearers will be friends from Hunters Point Golf Course. The family wishes to thank everyone for prayers and support during the past year, and medical caregivers, Dr. James Bachstein, Dr. James Peyton and TN Oncology staff, and Centennial Medical Center/Sarah Cannon Cancer Center, and University Medical Center.
