Obituary of H. Jared Chaffin

Harrison Jared Chaffin, born July 16, 1934, passed away suddenly on November 2, 2014 at age 80. Jared was preceded in his passing by his wife Callie Climer Chaffin, father Cecil Chaffin, mother Modena Chaffin, brother Jimmy Chaffin, and sister Tommie Jean Neely. He is survived by sons Tony (Julia) Chaffin and David (Karen) Chaffin, grandsons Dustin, Jared, and Dallas Chaffin, sister Ellen (Randall) Warren, nieces Laura and Lydia Warren, nephews Jimmy Chaffin and Kenneth Farmer, and very special friend Marion Sloan. Jared was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a long-time member of the National Association of Amateur Radio Operators and he was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of the Baptist faith. He retired in 1999 from Hartmann Luggage Company after 42 years of service. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother David Freeman, is 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2014 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment in Wilson County Memorial after the service. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.
