Obituary of Virginia Darlene Hoffman

HOFFMAN, Virginia "Virgie" Darlene, a Celebration of Life for Mrs. Hoffman will be held at 1 pm, September 18th with Pastor Howard Mettee officiating at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will consist of sons and grandsons. Visitation with the family will be 2 hours prior to the service. Mrs. Hoffman, 90, died September 12, 2013. She was born December 10, 1922 in New Port Richey, FL. She graduated from Gulf High School with honors in 1940 then attended Eckerd College. She began working for peninsular Phone Company at age 17. Peninsular became General Telephone Company in 1957 and today is Verizon Wireless. She worked for these companies for 39 years before retiring then moving to Mt. Juliet, TN. Virgie and Jerry became members of Celebration Lutheran Church when it started in a shoe store before it moved to its present location on North Mt. Juliet Road. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Jerry Hoffman. Virginia was one of nine children born to Anthony and Anna Fraddosio of New Port Richey, FL. She has five children, Alice Hoster and husband, Bob of Mt. Juliet, TN, Gilbert Sumner (deceased) and wife, Diane of Mt. Juliet, TN, tony Sumner of Fanning Springs, FL, Wayne Sumner and wife, Cindy of Parrish, FL and Lee Sumner and wife, Sharon of Orlando, FL.
