Obituary of Bette Jane Hendrickson

Bette Jane Hendrickson, age 84 of Gallatin, TN, passed away peacefully with family beside her on July 26, 2015. She was born in Sparta, Wisconsin on February 21, 1931, the second of three daughters of the late Paul and Florence Rasmussen. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert E. Hendrickson of 58 years; and sister, Delores "Dee" Steel-Isbell. Bette is survived by her three dedicated sons, Mark (Kathy) Hendrickson of Indianapolis, IN; Scott (Shannon) Hendrickson of Castalian Springs, TN; and Todd (Lorrie) Hendrickson of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren, Chase (Amanda) Hendrickson, Patrick (Erin) Hendrickson, Katelyn Hendrickson, Kristen Hendrickson, Anna (Josh) Scruggs, Lucas Hendrickson, and Grace Hendrickson; great-grandsons, Parker Hendrickson and Noah Scruggs; a sister, Nancy Struck; and many nieces and nephews. Bette attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where she studied Home Economics and earned recognition as drum majorette and prom queen. In college she met Robert (Bob) Hendrickson and they married in 1950. Over the years Bette worked as a secretary in WI, in IL, and in TN, while raising their three sons. Bob's work with Shell Oil Company brought them to Brentwood, TN. In 1976 the family moved to Gallatin, TN to take ownership of Rail Petroleum Company. For more than 30 years, Bette served as Secretary/Treasurer of the business alongside Bob and sons Scott and Todd. Bette enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling and playing bridge. She was a member of the Gallatin First United Methodist Church and supported her community. Bette was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Gallatin Rotary Club. Funeral Services will be held at the Family Heritage Funeral Home, in Gallatin, TN, on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, in Gallatin, TN. Chase Hendrickson, Patrick Hendrickson, Lucas Hendrickson, Anna Scruggs, Josh Scruggs, and Jeff Steel will be serving as Pallbearers. Katelyn Hendrickson, Kristen Hendrickson and Grace Hendrickson will be serving as honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday, July 31 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, August 1 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
