Obituary of Frank E. Freels

Frank E. Freels, Sr. age 81 of Gallatin passed away Friday April 3, 2015. Funeral service will be Tuesday April 7th at 2:00 p.m. from the Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Brother Jeff Lake officiating. Visitation will be Monday April 6th from 2-8 P.M. at Hendersonville First Baptist Church and Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of service at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. Mr. Freels was born July 30, 1933 in Morgan County, Tenn. son of the late Joe Edward Freels and Lucy Elizabeth Human Freels. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, J.L Freels, Charles Freels, R.D. Freels, Dudley Freels, and Joe Freels; and sister, Betty Freels Rodgers. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Holder Freels of Gallatin; two sons, Frank Freels, Jr (Karen) of Goodlettsville, and Joe Freels (Tasha) of Hendersonville; brothers Paul Freels (Helen) of Hendersonville and H.M. Freels (Ruby) of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Jonathan, Sarah, Lucy Jo, and Charlie Freels. After his service in the Army, he was employed by Lorillard Tobacco Company for 27 years. He and Virginia moved to Hendersonville, TN, in 1962 where he quickly became a servant of the community. He coached 11 and 12 year old Giants baseball for 21 years, was a member of the Civitan Club, served as a Sumner County Commissioner for 18 years, coached 11 and 12 year old Rams football, attended First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and was a 33rd Degree Freemason.
