Obituary of Grace Evelyn Carr Floyd

Grace Floyd passed away on January 18, 2011 at age 93. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the service on Sunday. The chapel service, conducted by Brother Larry Locke, is 2 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2011. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers: John Hayes, Richard Thurman, Bob Price, Wayne Collette, and Jay Decker. Survivors include two daughters: Barb Hayes (Wayne Collette) and Lynn Floyd-Decker (Jay Decker) both of Lebanon; younger sister: Dorothy (Jesse) Dowell of Champaign, IL; 6 grandchildren: Cheryl (Richard) Thurman and Josh Decker of Lebanon, Leona Hayes of Arlington, TX, Bob Price of Champaign, IL, John (Lori) Hayes of Birmingham, AL, and Jaimi Decker of Albuquerque, NM; a niece; several nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and ten great grandchildren. Grace Evelyn Carr Floyd was born April 5, 1917 in Champaign, IL. She was the daughter of the late Elsie May Hanshaw Carr and the late Talmage Dwight Carr. She was preceded in death by her grandson Gary Hayes of Arlington, Texas, her parents, a nephew, and her husband who passed away in 2005 shortly after their 70th wedding anniversary. She graduated from Champaign High School in 1935 and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana. She married Robert Bryce Floyd from Greenville, IL on January 26, 1935. After the war Bob owned and operated Floyd Electric Motor Service in Champaign, IL. Grace managed the office. They retired in 1977. For several years they traveled the United States, Mexico and Europe. They followed their daughters to Lebanon in 1997. Grace was an excellent artist and especially appreciated the Primitives and the works of the Impressionists. She loved to play bridge most recently playing at the Lebanon Senior Center.
