Obituary of David (Dave) Neville

David (Dave) Neville, age 78, passed away on November 30, 2015 after a brief illness. Dave was born on March 25, 1937 in Dwight, IL. He was a 1954 graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Odell, IL, attended St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN and graduated from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, IL in 1959 with a degree in electrical engineering. He married his high school sweetheart, Ann Sullivan, in 1959. Dave and Ann lived in Montana, California, and Illinois before settling in Gallatin, TN in 1974. He and Ann loved to travel and visited all 50 states plus many European countries. He explored Rome with his daughters as recently as October of this year. Dave was an avid golfer and known for his do-it-yourself home improvement projects for both himself and friends and family. Following his retirement from RR Donnelley & Sons in 1999, Dave turned his handyman skills to good use through his work with Habitat for Humanity and Habilitation and Training Services (H.A.T.S.). In addition to raising their six children (all of whom graduated from Gallatin Senior High), Dave was very active with the St. John Vianney Catholic parish and the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years. Family was always extremely important to Dave. He is survived by his four brothers: Don, Doug, Gary, and Paul Neville, and by his six children: daughters Mary (Jeff) Crutcher, Pat (Dan) Guaglianone, Chris (Kim Duke) Neville, Bridget Neville, Kate (Adam Elhofy) Neville and his son David Neville. He is adored by his 12 grandchildren: Elizabeth Crutcher Tucker, Mary Kathryn Crutcher Bennett, and Barbara Crutcher Simpson; Nathan, Gretchen, and Neal Guaglianone; Nick, Lily, Keira, and Charlotte Neville; and Gabe and Liam Elhofy. In addition to Ann, his wife of nearly 56 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and William Neville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 1161 Woodvale Drive, Gallatin, TN 37066. Visitation will be on Friday, December 4th, from 4-8 pm at Family Heritage Funeral Home in Gallatin. The Rosary will be said at 3:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Gallatin on Saturday, December 5th, at 12:00 noon with The Most Reverend David R. Choby, Bishop of Nashville and The Reverend Stephen Gideon of St. John Vianney as concelebrants. Interment will be Monday, December 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Sumner Memorial Gardens.
