Obituary of Marlette Elaine Carey

Mrs. Marlette Carey, age 58, of Lebanon, passed away on December 14, 2015. The family will be receiving friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Joe Tomlinson, is 11 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment in Bartons Creek Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers: Paul Stovall, Johnny Chaffin, Brian Cluck, Joe Widick, Bob Chaffin, and Cliff Carey. Honorary Pallbearers: Randy Carey, Wesley Overstreet, Jason Tomlinson, and Daniel Tomlinson. The family extends a special thank you to the Physicians at The Frist Clinic at Centennial. Marlette Carey was born on November 21, 1957 in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was a resident of Warner Robins, Georgia from 1962 – 1969, where she attended Lindsey Elementary School. Her family relocated to Lebanon TN in 1969 where she has resided since. Marlette was a graduate of Lebanon High School (1975), graduate of Lebanon Cosmetology School, January 1975, and graduate of Cumberland University (1994), cum laude. She was an employee of Robertshaw Controls Lux Time from 1975 to 1985. After receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pre K-8 Education, she was employed by the Wilson County Board of Education at Gladeville Elementary (1995-2007). She taught grades Pre K, Kindergarten, Second and Fifth. Marlette is survived by: mother: Chlorene Walker Brown; husband of 31 years: Cancel Carey; sons: Bradley Carey and Brandon Carey, both of Lebanon TN; first grandchild, grandson: Wyatt Carey; granddaughters: Gracie and Rieley Carey; sister: Ann Teasley (Charlie); brothers: Wendell and Wayland Brown, all of Lebanon; former daughters-in-law: Tamara Tuck Carey and Jessica Howell Carey; niece: Tanya Brown; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, special cousins; best friends: Anita “Janie” Pruitt of Lebanon, Clorinda “Clo” Blackwell of Hermitage, Nina Cowie of Aberdeen Scotland, and Joy Jacobs of Antioch; and special friends: Ladies Classes at Maple Hill Church of Christ, Lebanon; College Hills Church of Christ Tuesday/Wednesday School directors and teachers, Maple Hill Church of Christ Breast Cancer Friends, Paula Hodge and Denice Smith from Wilson County Schools, Kathy and Lester Miller, Bonnie Fakes and family, students and parents of Gladeville Elementary School, and Carol Chapman and family.
