Obituary of Irene Smith Graham

Irene Smith Graham, age 88 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday May 1, 2016. Funeral Service will be Wednesday May 4th at 12:00 noon, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Bro. Andrew Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, with Harvey Thaxton, Jordon Harper, Chris Smith, Sandy Smith, Harley Smith, and Michael Simpson serving as pallbearers. Harold Simpson is an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be Tuesday May 3rd from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday May 4th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Graham was born March 13, 1928 in Sumner County to the late Oran Austin Craven and Bethel Davidson Craven. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by first husband and father of her children, Ewing Smith; second husband, Paul Graham; son, Roger Smith; sisters, Lena Amons, Verlene, Pearl Thompson, Christine Thompson, Alma Freeman, Elsie Hartman, Alice Osteen, and Ruby Wilson; and brothers, Woodrow Craven, Charles Craven, and Oran Craven, Jr. She is survived by son, Daniel Smith (Carol) of Gallatin; daughters, Connie Thaxton (Harvey) of Gallatin, Patsy Simpson (Harold) of Gallatin, and Nancy Porter (Travis) of Gallatin; sister, Sue Palmer of North Carolina; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
