Obituary of Patricia Hicks King

Patricia King, age 72, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 after suffering a heart attack. She was born on October 10, 1943 in Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Kenneth K. King, her son Kent Lee King, her mother Emily Hicks, and brothers Butch, Ric and Jimmy Hicks. She is survived by daughters Kelly (Larry Stroud) King, Kimpi (Skip) Kendrick, daughter-in-law Tammy King, grandchildren Hilary Howser Kendrick, Emily King Orbison, Ashley Stroud, Aaron Collins and Ashley Collins, her beloved brother John G. Hicks, sisters Faye Johnson and Juanita Himes, and her constant companions Ollivander, Parky, and Bucky. A 1980 Nashville School of Law graduate, Ms. King served as Assistant District Attorney General of Rutherford/Cannon counties for 20 years. After retirement, she followed her dream of mindless employment and entertainment to the casinos of Biloxi, Mississippi, where she happily worked and gambled until her return to Tennessee in 2005. Pat was beautiful, brilliant, fiercely loyal, quick witted, and had a graceful sense of style. Happiness was her family, her dogs, her sewing machine, her politics, and her computer. One of her greatest joys (and obsessions) was the Harry Potter series and she ended each day listening to a book. Pat always said if she ever won the lottery, she would build the world’s largest no-kill animal shelter. Please honor Pat’s memory and make donations to New Leash on Life (507 Jim Draper Blvd, Lebanon TN 37087, 615.444.1144). Per her wishes, no service will be held as she has moved on. In the words of Dumbledore, “After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next big adventure.”
