Obituary of Thomas Edwin Halbert, Jr.

Thomas Halbert, age 88, of Lebanon TN, passed away on June 5, 2016. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Danny Sellars, is 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Pallbearers: Bo Reed, Bob Halbert, Tim Halbert, Tom Halbert, Steve Piercey, David Tomlinson, Bill Buhler, Howard Johnson, Roy Vaden, and Tony Watson. The family extends a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, Southern Manor, Dr. Hardie Sorrells, Dr. Modupe Kehinde, and Dr. James Peyton. Mr. Halbert, born in 1928, was one of eleven children. He was a foreman at the Woolen Mill in Lebanon for 28 years. He worked in Building Codes for the City of Lebanon for 10 years, but he was always a farmer. He raised tobacco and cattle. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Halbert is survived by his wife Marilyn McCaleb Halbert; son: Tommy (Teresa) Halbert; step-daughter: Pamela Foster; grandchildren: April (Joe) Stasek and Josh (Lisa) Halbert; great-grandchildren: Price, Marley, and Lily Grace Cochran, William Thomas Stasek, Gavin Halbert, Lexy Halbert; step-granddaughter: Jessica Higdon; siblings: Emile Manning, Jean Reasonover, Ruth Namnoum, Robert (Sara) Halbert, Hamlet (Linda) Halbert, and John Halbert; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Thomas and Mary Grissim Halbert Sr., and siblings Mary Sue Bland, Clara Ingram, and Hayes Halbert. Arrangements by Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, 615.444.9393.
