Obituary of Edgar L. Brown

Edgar L. Brown, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday July 24, 2016. Funeral Service will be Wednesday July 27th at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Bro. Darrell Withers officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, with Ranzy Whitiker, Tony Brown, Bailey Wayne England, Phillip Hill, Brian Hill, and Richard Denning serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Brown and the WWII Veterans who served in the Battle of the Buldge. Visitation will be Tuesday July 26th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday July 27th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Brown was born March 13, 1925 in Davidson County to the late Edgar Abner Brown and Bertie Ray Ryan Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mally Lucille Baskerville Brown,; and daughter, Sandra Gail Baird; and 2 grandchildren. He is survived by wife of 15 years, Nellie McCullough Brown; children, Shirley Abrams of Portland, Lynn Ray Brown (Jane) of Gallatin, Patsy Goostree (Steve Garwood) of South Carolina, Teresa England (Bailey Wayne) of Portland, and Ricky Lee Brown (Debbie) of Portland; 7 step children; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Mr. Brown was a Christian, served in the Army during World War II at the Battle of The Buldge, as one of the greater generations, was a farmer, and owned an insulation business.
