Obituary of Sarah Jane Carter Slayton

Sarah Jane Carter Slayton, age 86 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday September 25, 2016. Funeral Service will be Wednesday September 28th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Tony Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery, with Brandon Doss, Willard Nelson, Ben Slayton, Andrew Webb, Zack Clark, and Ray Carter serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday September 27th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday September 28th from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mrs. Slayton was born February 8, 1930 in Bethpage to the late Willie Payton Carter and Mary Liza Sullivan Carter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughters, Evon Price Carter and Patricia Diane Slayton; 2 great grandchildren; and sisters, Edna High and Virginia Lee. She is survived by son, Douglas “Bubba” Slayton of Gallatin; daughters, Cathy Elizabeth Brown of Bethpage, Edna Louise Lovall (Andy) of Franklin, KY, Judy Lynn Anderson (Gregory) of Portland, and Pamela Jean Nelson (James Webb) of Gallatin; son-in-law, Billy Carter of Bethpage; sisters, Selma Carter of Gallatin, Carrie Ann Brown of Hartsville, Katherine Coley of Bethpage, Shirley Coley of Greenwood, IN, and Eleanor Humphrey of Lewisburg, PA; 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
