Obituary of Joetta Dunshee

MS. JOETTA DUNSHEE - age 76 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at Saint Thomas Hospital. Funeral services for Ms. Joetta Dunshee were conducted Friday at 2:30 from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Amanda Diamond officiating. Arthur Wayne Ray, Eric Glenn Ray, Maxwell Brian Askins, Kiel Keith Dunshee, Stephen Michael Phillips, Michael Lee Thomas, Corey Joseph Audibert served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Joetta Dunshee was born on June 5, 1935 in Wheeler, Texas to the late James Halbert Tarvin and Bonnie Joy Shipman Tarvin. She departed this life July 25, 2011, at the age of 76 years. On August 30, 1953, Joetta was married to the love of her life Keith Dunshee. They have shared fifty-seven years together and raised three children. Joetta was a Navy wife, traveling and supporting her husband during his career of twenty years. Through the military, she met many wonderful lifelong friends. She had been most everywhere traveling, but cruising was her favorite. Joetta loved to sail on the big ships across the ocean. She had a talent when it came to quilting and had made several during her life. Joetta and husband Keith were both great dancers. They enjoyed square dancing and had been presidents of the "Guys & Dolls" group of Gallatin, Tennessee. Since 1979, she has been a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church. Joetta had served as president of the UMC Women's Club. Joetta dedicated her life to her loving family and Church. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Joetta is survived by, Husband, Keith Dunshee of the Long Creek Community in Macon County, TN, Son, Martin Keith Dunshee and wife Audrey Lee of Louisiana, Daughters, Linda Kaye Phillips and husband Theodore Lucky of Maryland , and Nadine Ray and husband Arthur of Clarksville, TN, Sister, Barbara Ann Mercado and husband Oscar of California, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren plus two on the way, 4 Great great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and a host of lifelong friends.
