Obituary of Bedford L. King

MR. BEDFORD L. KING- age 77 of Lafayette, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2011 at his residence. Funeral Services for Mr. Bedford Louis King were conducted Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 1 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Lonnie Meadors officiating. John Claridy, John Drury, Jeff Gregory, Don Cherry, Jimmy Glover, and Roger Flippin served as Pallbearers. Interment followed with Military Honors in the Underwood Cemetery. Bedford King was born on July 17, 1934 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Bedford Enloe King, and Jewell Hortence Lonas King. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from January 17, 1957 to January 16, 1959. Bedford always loved reading books about Military History. Later, he worked for Eaton Manufacturing for ten years, before retiring. In his youth, Bedford was married and had one son and one daughter. He was an excellent single father, grandfather, and son. Bedford cherished the time spent with his family. Bedford was an avid sports fan. He loved shooting pool and was known as one of the best pool players around this area. Sitting back and watching U. T. football and basketball on the weekends, was also one of his enjoyments. Bedford attended the Underwood Methodist Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind; Son, Tony King and wife Melanie of Gallatin, TN, Daughter, Cathy Claridy of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Erica Whittemore and husband Chad, and Alisha Gregory and Hannah King, Great-grandchildren, Parker Whittemore and Addison Whittemore all of Lafayette, TN, and a host of friends.
