Obituary of Mack Dowell Coulter

MACK DOWELL COULTER - age 78 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away Wednesday evening, August 17, 2011 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mack Dowell Coulter were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Tony Hopkins and Brother Bill Traughber officiating. Gene Oldham and Jimmy Fishburn served as Honorary Pallbearers. Jay Moore, Keith Lancaster, Randy Reece, Bill Coulter, Billy Coots, and LeRoy Coulter served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Lafayette City Cemetery. Mack was born on September 27, 1932 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to the late Sam and Rose Presley Coulter. He was one of seven siblings born to this union. Besides his parents; four brothers, Joe Coulter, Gene Coulter, Turnner Coulter, Eugene Coulter, one sister, Tressie Goodman, and a nephew, Larry Coulter also preceded him in death. As a little boy, Mack was saved at an old brush harbor meeting and was a member of the Church of God. Mack enjoyed mowing yards for the public which he done for many years. He also worked in the local Lumber yards and farmed some. Mack liked working on automobiles and lawn mowers in his spare time; he was a good mechanic. Mack was a very simple man that loved everyone he knew. Since he never married and had no children; his siblings, nieces, and nephews made up his family. He truly loved the time that he spent with his nieces and nephews. It was easy for Mack, being the jokester that he was, to make his family laugh. He loved his family, and they truly loved him. Mack leaves a huge empty spot at the family table. He is survived by; Caregivers; Niece, Linda Sue and husband Johnny Hurt, Nephew, Ricky and wife Teresa Coulter all of Lafayette, TN, and a host of other Nephews and Nieces, Special Friends, Gene Oldham, and Jimmy Fishburn both of Lafayette, TN, Sister, Flossie Leonard of Anna, ILL, Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of arrangements.
