Obituary of Myrtle Alene Pipkin Kingrey

MS. MYRTLE ALENE PIPKIN KINGREY, better known as Alene, age 86 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday evening, October 11, 2011 at the University Medical Center in Lebanon. Funeral services for Ms. Myrtle Kingery were conducted Friday, October 14 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Greg Dunham officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Alene was born on October 16, 1924 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Edgar Earl and Ercie Irene Jenkins Pipkin. Alene was married to William "Bill" Kingrey on July 16, 1970; they shared twenty-seven years together. Bill preceded her in death on October 13, 1997. He had two children, Connie and Jerry, whom she loved dearly. Besides her husband and parents; sister, Margaret Ann Paul, aunt, Amanda Joines, and niece, Connie Peters, also preceded her in death. As a young lady, Alene continued her education and in 1957 received her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She started working at Smith-Chitwood Hospital and also worked in several other Physicians' offices. Alene was well-known and loved by the patients she cared for. The field of nursing suited Alene's personality; she was such a sweet person, giving great attention to the health of those she served. Alene worked from 1957 until she decided to retire, in 1980. Crocheting took up a lot of her past time; Alene also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and crossword books. She was a member of the Macon County Historical Society and loved doing research. Alene was saved as a young woman at home and joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Alene remained a member. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her. Alene is survived by; Sister, Patsy (Glen) Peters, Brother-in-law, Clark Paul, Step-daughter, Connie Knapp, Step-son; Jerry Kingrey, Grandchildren, James William Whitlow, Edward Russell Geiser, and Laurie Anne Petty, three Great-grandchildren, special Cousin and Caregiver, Ann Joines, several Nieces, Nephews, and cousins, also survive.
