Obituary of Henderson Clarence Mahaney

HENDERSON CLARENCE MAHANEY, JR. better known as H.C. - age 88 of Lafayette passed away on Friday morning, November 11, 2011 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for H. C. Mahaney were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Walter Andrews and Elder Dean Sircy officiating. Interment followed in the Galen Cemetery. H.C. was born on May 22, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Henderson Clarence Mahaney, Sr. and Edna Rosella Heiser Mahaney. He was one of four siblings born to this union. On November 11, 2011 at the age of 88, H.C. went home to be with the Lord. H.C. was a veteran serving in the Army during World War II. He served from March 16th, 1943 until March of 1946, before returning home. Soon after returning to the states H.C. married, Nina Brandon on August 21, 1948. They shared sixty-three wonderful years together and raised five children. H.C. worked as a carpenter and painter for most of his life. The main goal in his life was providing a home and necessities for his family. He constructed several buildings and barns in Macon County and the surrounding areas. H.C. was the kind of neighbor anyone would be lucky to have. If you needed him all you had to do was call. Sharing time with his family was of the utmost importance. On Sunday's after church, the yard would be full of children and grandchildren. You would find H.C. sitting under the shade tree enjoying the sounds of laughter and the presence of his family. H. C. was saved after he returned from the service, and joined Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Later, he moved his membership to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge # 543. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who knew and loved him. H. C. is survived by; Wife, Nina Mahaney, Daughters, Sheila and husband Jerry Brown of Mt. Union, KY, Jean Griggs, Judy and husband Steve Cothron, and Wendy and husband Randy Ragland all of Lafayette, Son, Teddy and wife Chris Mahaney of Lafayette, Brother, Frank and wife, Mary Mahaney of Fountain Run, KY, Sisters, Mildred Adwell, and Bessie Ann Poynter both of Indiana, 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren also survive.
