Obituary of Mary Evelyn White

MRS. MARY EVELYN WHITE, better known as Evelyn - age 82 of Lafayette passed away early Thursday morning, December 1, 2011 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Evelyn White will be conducted Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Elder Ricky Wilson, and Brother Evan White officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Evan White, Channing Swindle, Kevin Johnson, Scotty Roark, Hayden Roark, Andrew Roark, Lance Russell, Brian Swindle, Eli Johnson, Ian Johnson, and Ty Swindle. Interment will follow in the Haysville Cemetery. Evelyn was born on September 8, 1928 in Davidson County, Tennessee to the late Roy Layton Tuck and Mary Minerva Gregory Tuck. She was one of seven siblings born to this union. Besides her parents; brothers, Oakley Tuck, Eddie Tuck, and R.C. Tuck, sisters, Mae C. Seagraves, Edith Driver, and an infant sister, Mabel Alene Tuck, also preceded her in death. Evelyn was married to Willie Eugene White in 1944, sharing fifty-six years together. They shared two children, Ricky White and Joan White whom they loved dearly. Eugene passed away on November 15, 2000. Evelyn worked in garment factories as a seamstress for several years. She later went to work for Jo Minchey in the Fabric Store until retiring in the early 80's. Sewing and needle point was what she loved doing for her family. Baby blankets were one of Evelyn's specialties and family members were always excited to receive one. Evelyn was fun loving and everyone enjoyed her company, she was full of life. Her family was what Evelyn's world revolved around. Taking a day off to play with her grandchildren, gave her great joy. She loved to travel and when the train left, the kids said Evelyn was on it. Church was very precious to her. Being saved as a young mother, she joined Long Creek Missionary Baptist Church and later moved to Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by, Son, Ricky (Cindy) White of Lafayette, Daughter, Joan White of Lafayette, Grandchildren, Regina Swindle, Kim (Scotty) Roark, Channing Swindle, Emily (Kevin) Johnson, Evan (Sonya) White all of Lafayette, Great-grandchildren, Hayden Roark, Andrew Roark, Lance Russell, Brian Swindle, Ty Swindle, Eli Johnson, and Ian Johnson, Sister-in-law, Evell Tuck, Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of arrangements.
