Obituary of Terry Daugherty

MR. TERRY DAUGHERTY - age 58 of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 14, 2011 at his home. Funeral Services for Mr. Terry Daugherty were conducted Saturday, December 17 at 2 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jackie Stagner and Elder Anthony Hale officiating. Interment followed in the Mill-Town "Jenkins" Cemetery. Terry was born on April 8, 1953 in Harriman, Tennessee to Clorene Patterson Daugherty and the late Delbert Daugherty. He was one of three siblings born to this union. Besides his father; one Brother, Gary Daugherty, also preceded him in death. Terry married the former Martha Diane Ray on June 29, 1985, sharing twenty-six years together. He leaves behind his wife, three sons, and one daughter. As a young man, Terry worked for TVA. There he continued his labor as an iron worker for over five years, until receiving an injury to his back. He later went to work as a correction officer for over five years in Nashville, TN. In his younger years, Terry drove stock cars for several years and even drove with his son for a couple of years. After Terry quit racing, he always continued keeping up with the races. He also loved watching NASCAR on television. Terry enjoyed sports to the fullest. He coached "The Misfits" traveling softball team for several years. Being out on the field with his team, made his day complete. When his son started playing ball, Terry never missed a game. Terry and Diane spent many days out at the softball fields, together. Terry was an avid Deer Hunter. He could stay out in the woods all day hunting and had several trophies to prove it. His family was what Terry's life revolved around. The grandchildren especially held a special place in his heart. Being a clown at heart, you could always find Terry brightening someone's day. He was such a fun loving and caring person. Most importantly, Terry had made preparations for Heaven twenty years ago, when he was saved. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but our loss is Heaven's gain. Terry is survived by; Wife, Diane Ray Daugherty of Lafayette, TN,Sons, Randy (Stacy) Daugherty of Clinton, TN, Michael Daugherty of Oliver Springs, TN, Brandon (Delisa) Daugherty of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County,TN, Daughter, Jennifer Daugherty Pedigo and Will Heitz of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Heather and Brett Daugherty of Oliver Springs, TN, Dakota, Tyler, Haley, and Amelia Pedigo, and Emmerick Heitz all of Lafayette, TN, Mother, Clorene Patterson Daugherty, and Sister, Cathy Daugherty both of Lafayette, TN.
