He married the former Lula Belle Knight on January 13, 1951, sharing forty-four years together and having two sons. Lula Belle preceded Dean in death on December 15, 1995. Later in December of 1996, Dean married Sandra Jones Parker and they shared fifteen years together. Besides his two wives and mother; one son, Andy Dwight Parker, and several brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law also preceded him in death. Dean would tell you that he was a "Britches Cutter" for the local garment factories. But his love was for farming, whether he was working in cattle, raising tobacco or taking care of his goats. On the weekends as a young couple, Dean and Lula Belle would have a yard full of kids. Kids, whether family or not were always welcomed at their home. He was saved as a young share cropper, out in the fields, and was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. Dean enjoyed playing cards at Peggy's Market and you could find him there most anytime. On Friday's he liked eating fish there. If passing by Dean's home, you might see him sitting in the porch swing whittling. Dean will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
