Obituary of MS. MELVIN MARIE PROCK

MS. MELVIN MARIE PROCK - age 81 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away on February 5, 2012 at Macon County General Hospital. Funeral services for MS. Melvin Marie Prock were conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Chris Crowder and Elder Jeff Blackwell. Serving as Pallbearers were: Jeff Gregory, Nathan Gregory, Randall Carr, Larry Herald, Jimmy Wilburn, and David Barber. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Melvin Marie was born on February 23, 1930 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Clifton and Ozie Walrond Herald. On March 31, 1945, she was married to George Prock sharing fifty-four years together. To this union was born one son, Mike Prock. Her husband, George preceded Melvin in death on May 31, 1999. Besides her husband and parents; three brothers, Hillas Herald, T.H. Herald, and Kenneth Herald also preceded her in death. Melvin worked at Form-fit Rogers and Imperial Reading for several years. She took great pride in caring for her home and family. Melvin and George always had a great interest in sports. They have attended many football, baseball, and basketball games to support their son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at these events. Playing cards and bingo with her friends and family was some of Melvin's great past times. She also enjoyed making quilts and being on the go. Melvin had a wonderful personality, she was a loving person who always cared about others; she was a true people person. When you saw Melvin she always had a smile. She was saved by God's grace as a young girl. She united with the church and was baptized in October of 1942. She was a member of Long Fork Missionary Baptist Church. Melvin will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She is survived by; Son, Mike (Deborah) Prock of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Jeff (Christy) Gregory,and Nathan (Tracy) Gregory, Great-grandchildren, Katelyn Gregory, Kelsey Gregory, Jalynn Gregory, Kyra Gregory, and Keelyn Gregory, Special Friends, Shenna Barber, Angie Cook, and Teresa Johns.
