Obituary of Betty Whittemore Harper

BETTY HARPER - age 65 of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away on February 6, 2012. Funeral services for Betty Harper were conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Larry Emery officiating. Tony Harper, Barry Harper, Justin Harper, Wayne Harper, Brian Harper, Wayne Whittemore, Scotty Turner, and Robert Denson served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Cold Springs Cemetery. Betty was born on September 15, 1946 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late William Whittemore and Addie Bell Farley Whittemore. Besides her parents; Brothers, Jackie Whittemore, and Raymond Whittemore, sisters, Elsie Olene Whittemore, Dean Wheat, and Sherry Raye Whittemore, father-in-law, Calvin Harper and mother-in-law, Katherine Harper Jenkins, also preceded her in death. On February 18, 1966, Betty was married to the love of her life, Jerry Ray Harper. They shared almost forty-six years together and raised two sons together. As a young lady, Betty worked for the Garment Factory in Westmoreland, Tennessee. After quitting the factory she stayed home for several years, taking care of her family and babysitting. Later on, Jerry opened a cabinet shop and Betty enjoyed working in the shop; by his side. Betty was very particular about her home and always loved decorating it for all occasions. She enjoyed making flower arrangements for her family and friends, too. But, the most enjoyment Betty received was when she cooked for her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren that she loved dearly; was what her life revolved around. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. She is survived by; Husband, Jerry Harper, Sons, Tony Harper, and Barry (Tammy) Harper all of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Justin Harper of Burkesville, KY, and Kaitlyn Harper of Lafayette, TN, Daughter-in-law, Regina Law of Lafayette, TN, Brothers, Junior (Penny) Whittemore of Lafayette, TN, and Gerald (Debbie) Whittemore of Greenwood, IN, Sisters, Rulene Turner of Lafayette, TN, and Gerry Faye Landers of Scottsville, KY, Brother-in-law, Larry (Diane) Harper of Westmoreland, TN, and Sister-in-law, Brenda (David) White of Lafayette, TN.
