Interment followed in the Cold Springs Cemetery. On December 20, 1947, Charles Edward Smith, better known as Charlie was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Lawrence Smith and Mary Lou Clinard Smith. Besides his Parents; Brother, William Smith, Sister, Sue Pascal, and infant Daughters, Teresa Gail Violett, and Peggy Sue Violett, also preceded him in death. Charlie married Donna S. Carr on April 23, 1978, sharing thirty- three wonderful years together. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for several years, mainly driving a Dozier. Charlie had put in many hours on the Dozier moving dirt and digging ponds, but due to his health he had to retired in 1980. Charlie enjoyed talking on his C.B. Radio to the many friends that he had made over the years. But to Charlie, his family was of the utmost importance. Going fishing with his sons, or being out on the boat with his family and friends, made Charlie's day complete. He was such a caring and loving husband and father, but when it came to the grandchildren his love was endless. Charlie had a big heart and a gentle smile that everyone enjoyed being around. Charlie was a member of the Union Hill General Baptist Church. We have a great emptiness in our hearts, but many memories to cherish. Charlie will be greatly missed.
