Obituary of Michael Joseph Smith

MICHAEL JOSEPH SMITH, III, age 54, of Lafayette, TN passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Deberry Special Needs Facility in Nashville, TN. Funeral Services for Michael Joseph Smith, III were conducted Saturday, 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Father Holley officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Thomas Ogan, Billy Snyder, Steven Snyder, and Ricky Smith. Cremation followed. On September 26, 1957, Michael was born to Michael Joseph Smith, Jr. and Alice Marie Nevins Smith in Chincoteague, Virginia. Soon after, Michael's parents moved the family to Miami, Florida where Michael grew-up and graduated high school. He went to work there for the Florida Highway Patrol for several years. Later on Michael worked in the Legal field, becoming a Paralegal. Michael was previously married and had two children, Michael Smith, IV, and Heather Smith, that he treasured. In 2007, Michael decided to move to Lafayette, Tennessee where his parents and sister resided. He was always happy and full of fun, keeping his family and friends well entertained. Michael was a very family oriented person that had a loving heart and caring soul. Michael enjoyed photography, making most of the pictures for his family and get-togethers. He also liked making picture collages. He was of the Catholic belief and attended the Holy Family Catholic Church in Lafayette. Michael will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind: Parents, Michael Joseph Smith, Jr. and Alice Nevins Smith of Lafayette, TN, Sisters, Patricia (Billy) Snyder of Lafayette, TN, and Donna Ogan of Nashville, TN, Brother, Richard (Diane) Smith of Hendersonville, TN, Children, Michael Joseph Smith, IV, Heather Marie Smith all of Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
