Obituary of John Michael Koebernik

Mr. John Michael Koebernik, Jr. - age 80 of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday Morning, March 14, 2012 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. John Michael Koebernik, Jr. were conducted on Friday March 16, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Milltown-Jenkins Cemetery with Military Honors. On February 15, 1932, Jack was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey to John Michael Koebernik, Sr. and Delores Sharp Koebernik. Jack was one of four sons born to this union. Besides his parents; one son, John Michael Koebernik III, and one brother, Louis Koebernik also preceded him in death. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on December 10th 1954. Jack only had an eighth grade education, but was a very talented person and put it to great use. He moved to Florida where he opened a large nursery business. Jack had a green thumb when it came to growing trees, and had big orchards. He was also a writer and had written two books on how to raise and care for trees, especially Palm trees. Jack gave many lectures at the local Colleges to students, on raising Palm trees. His past time was spent in the kitchen, where Jack loved to cook. Jack enjoyed baking bread and would bake up to fifty loaves at a time. The biggest reward he received was when he delivered them to his neighbors and friends. They greatly appreciated his generosity. Jack has three children, two daughters, Ruth and Benette and one son, John Michael III. He loved his family and the time spent with them. Jack especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren every chance he could. He was of the Baptist faith. Jack will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by; Daughters, Ruth Chaffin of Lafayette, TN, and Benette Stankwicz of Florida, Brothers, William (Delores) Koebernik of Florida, and Edward (Rhonda) Koebernik of Illinois, Six grandchildren, and Twelve great-grandchildren.
