Obituary of Ruby Olene Jones

Ruby Olene Thompson Jones - age 83 of Lafayette, TN passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012. Graveside services for Ruby Olene Thompson Jones were conducted Tuesday, April 10th at 2 p.m. from the Willette Cemetery with Minister Barry Boggs and long- time friend, Charles Workman officiating, Interment followed. Nathan Kirby, Charles Workman, Lane Dillard, Nick Brawner, Takoda Evans, Harlan Borders, and Jonathan Thomas served as Pallbearers. Ruby was born on November 5, 1928 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Clarence Ott Thompson and Elsie Mae Strode Thompson. She was married to James T. Jones on June 19, 1964, sharing thirty-nine years together; J.T preceded her in death on October 26, 2003. Besides her husband and parents; four brothers, Clarence Thompson, Larry Thompson, J.T Thompson., and Billy Ray Thompson, also preceded Ruby in death. Ruby worked most all of her life; she started at Form-Fit Rogers working for thirty- seven years as a Department Supervisor. Later, she worked as an Insurance Agent for Life of Georgia for eight years and then was employed by the Macon County Times for five years, retiring in 2002. Ruby enjoyed time with her family more than anything else. She had no children of her own, but took special care of her great niece and great nephews. Ruby would take them to the Library after school every chance she could, to get books. She loved to spend time reading, her favorite author was Nora Roberts. Ruby had a sweet and caring personality and enjoyed having company around. She was saved and a member of Willette Missionary Baptist Church. Ruby will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by; Devoted niece, Susie Riddle, Devoted great niece, Macy Riddle both of Lafayette, TN, Great nephews, Tyler Riddle of Gallatin, TN, Seth Riddle of Lafayette, TN, Sister, Carolyn Sexton of Lafayette, TN, Sister-in-law, Barbara Thompson of Red Boiling Springs, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many, many friends.
