Obituary of W.T. Barber

W. T. "Jack" Barber, age 68 of Red Boiling Springs and formerly of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away on Monday evening, May 7, 2012. Funeral services for W. T. "Jack" Barber were conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Mark Gammons officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Christopher Bibby, Johnny McClanahan, Jr., Jeremy King, Johnny McClanahan, Sr., Juan Lopez, and Christopher Scott. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Jack was born on September 25, 1943 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Artie Earl Barber and Lena Rose Whittemore Barber. Besides Jack's parents; son, Jackie Dewayne Barber, brother, Alfred Neal Barber, and sister, Annice Allen also preceded him in death. On November 24, 1962, Jack married his childhood sweet heart, Linda Mae Carver sharing almost fifty years together and raising two children. Jack cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His goal in life was to make a home and provide for his family. Jack worked as a mechanic for over twenty years at Bray's Wholesale Tires. When he was at home, Jack enjoyed tinkering around on lawnmowers and other equipment. As a young man, being in the woods hunting or at the water's edge fishing is how Jack spent his leisure time. He was Missionary Baptist and was saved at Keystone Schoolhouse as a young boy. Jack's health began to deteriorate due to diabetes. He took life with stride, although it became a battle. Jack went to live at The Palace Nursing Home, where he made a lot of friends. Jack enjoyed playing the games and socializing. Jacks' battle is over and he is now reunited with loved ones in Heaven. Jacks' family will miss him, but our loss is Heavens gain. Jack is survived by; Wife, Linda Barber of Lafayette, TN, Daughter, Jacqueline (Johnny) McClanahan of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Chris Bibby of Lafayette, TN, Gina Bibby Adolphus, KY, Johnny McClanahan, Jr., and Shena McClanahan both of Lafayette, TN, Sister, Bonnie Huffines, Half-brother, Raydean (Melba Sue) Barber all of Lafayette, TN, Half-sisters, Cardellia Story of Murfreesboro, TN and Wilma Johns of Carthage, TN, Sister-in-law, Carolyn Frye of Bowling Green, KY, and Great-grandchildren, Nathanial Scott, Chasity Lopez, and Kameron McClanahan.
