Obituary of E. B. Krantz

Erthon B. Krantz, better known as E.B., age 77, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Macon County General Hospital. E.B. was born on March 15, 1935 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Tillman McKinley Krantz and Lassie Bohanon Krantz. He was one of eight children born to this union. After high school, E.B. joined the United States Marines, serving our country during the Korean War. E.B. went on to graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. On November 1, 1958, E.B. married the love of his life, Alta Davis. They made their home here in Macon County where E.B. started his journey as a teacher. E.B. helped many students during his years in education to pursue their dreams for the future, he retired in 1995. E.B. and Alta had three daughters and one son that they loved and cherished. The time spent with his wife and children meant everything to him. As their children grew, E. B. and Alta always had all of the kids from around the neighborhood playing in their yard, and they cared for each one of them. Their love for their family did not stop with their children. They loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. They had helped to raise them all, but one great grandchild, Christian, had lived with them for a period of time. Christian meant a great deal to them both. Latise Jones was also a nurse that had cared for E.B., and he thought of her as a daughter. She had a special place in his heart. Alta preceded him in death on September 14, 2009 leaving a void in E.B.'s life. Besides his wife and parents; grandson, Kenneth Hobert Foss, brothers, Veston D. Krantz, Charles Lynn Krantz, and Roger Laddie Krantz, sisters, Rulene Stafford and Lassie Pearl Sanders also preceded him in death. E.B. was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching all sports, but softball was his passion. E.B. coached and umpired softball games for almost 60 years. He was a member of the TSSAA Umpire Association. When E.B. was not at a ball game, he enjoyed hunting all kinds of animals, especially squirrel hunting. He also loved to go wading in the creeks looking for spring lizards to get ready for a big fishing trip. Another passion of E. B.'s was walking the hillsides looking for ginseng. Most importantly, he was saved as a young man and was of the Missionary Baptist Belief. E.B. will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all that knew and loved him. He is survived by; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Denise and Tim Hesson of Lafayette Teresa and Glenn Foss of Cornersville Shelia and Richard Welch of Smithville Son & Daughter-in-law, Eric and Ashley Krantz of Hendersonville Grandchildren; Patrick and Paige Foss, Brad and Joyelle Foss, Sandi and Jonathan Tyson, Jessica and John Luna, Crissy and Ryan Kosier, Katy Jenkins, Elijah and Nicholas Krantz, Candie and Chris Barrett, Laura and Chanse Hudgens, and Kimmy Welch Great grandchildren; Wesley and Bailey Foss, Lily and Kipton Luna, Christian and Gabriel Jenkins, Micah Burton, Patrick and Kayla Barrett, Timmy and Lacey Welch, Shelby, Gracie, Jadyn and Jaice Luna, Austin, Cole, Skylar, Brandon, and Brook Barnett, Jacob Waldrop, Sydney Beard, and Ethan Hudgens.
