Obituary of Robert Cager Archer

Mr. Robert Cager Archer age 86 of Lafayette passed away early Monday morning July 16, 2012 at Hendersonville Medical Center. Funeral Services for Robert Cager Archer were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Dean Dyer officiating. Ray Goad and Robert Whitson served Honorary Pallbearers. Terry Goad, Larry Goad, Louie Tucker, Gordon Bransford, Josh Copas, and Jeremiah Copas serving as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Robert Cager Archer was born on February 4, 1926 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Robert Franklin Archer, and Mattie Lou Dotson Archer. He was one of eight siblings born to this union. As a young man, Robert was married to the former Alta Mae Roark and to this union was born one son, Bryan. Alta Mae and Bryan both preceded Robert in death. Besides his son, parents, and former wife; daughter-in-law, Darlene Archer, brothers, Dot Archer, W.S. Archer, Rex Archer, and infant brother, Billy Joe Archer, sisters, Mary Dotson, and Virginia Brandon, also preceded him in death. In 1954 through 1956, Robert served in the United States Army, during the Korean War. When he returned home Robert started running a Dozier from day-light to dark. Robert enjoyed riding around and talking to people. He served many customers in the surrounding counties, before retiring in 2009. Robert may have been a busy man, but he always had time for his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. He was of the Missionary Baptist Belief. Robert will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who knew and loved him. He is survived by; Granddaughter, Natasha and husband Walter Kittrell, Grandson, Josh Archer, Sister, Peggy and husband Ray Goad, Great grandchildren, Benjamin Alan Archer, Jacob Allen Archer, Westyn LeAnn Archer, Archer Allen Kittrell, Lane Robert Kittrell, and Lanna Jo Kittrell all of Lafayette, TN Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of arrangements.
