Obituary of Gilmore Reid

Gilmore Reid was born on July 23, 1935 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Jessie Reid, and Nellie Simmons Reid. At the young age of 19, Gilmore joined the Navy serving his country from May 5, 1954 to May 2, 1958. He served during the Korean War. Gilmore was commended and given recognition on his participation in the underwater atomic test, Operation WIGWAM. He was a member of the V.F.W. American Legion. After returning home, Gilmore worked for at Harris Electric as a Salesman. Gilmore retired after twenty years of service. He married the former Mary Sue Satterfield on December 15, 1966, sharing almost forty-one years. Mary preceded him in death on June 9, 2007. Besides his wife and parents, one sister, Ruby Gregory also preceded him in death. Gilmore leaves behind two daughters, Ginger and Robin that he loved spending his time with. He was a good father and grandfather. Gilmore enjoyed watching football and was a huge UT fan. His hobbies were boating and fishing. Gilmore also was a good photographer and loved taking pictures. On Monday, July 30, 1935, Gilmore took his last steps on Earth. He will be sadly missed by his family and Gilmore's many friends. Gilmore is survived by; Daughters, Ginger (Kevin) McPherson of Hartsville, TN and Robin Reid, Grandson, Aidan McPherson, Brother -in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Linda Gregory, Nephew, Jimmy and wife Carol Gregory. Gilmore passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at the age of 77. Funeral services for Gilmore Reid were conducted on Thursday, August 1 at 2 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Ricky White officiating.
