Obituary of Delson Moore
DELSON "SLICK" MOORE was born on August 20, 1930 in Allen County, Kentucky to the late Ernest Moore and Hattie Pearl Shockley Moore. He was one of four siblings born to this family.
Besides his parents; daughter, Penny Moore, brother, Johnny Moore, and sister, Willa Dean Mullett also preceded Slick in death.
Slick was employed by G. F. Office Furniture for thirty-two years, before retiring.
He did not like to sit idle, but preferred to be busy. He loved hunting with his beagle hounds. Slick spent many hours sitting on his tailgate just listening to them run. He enjoyed going to the park to walk, often walking up to four miles a day. If he had nothing else to do, you could find him whittling.
In Slick's younger life he was married and had four children. He remarried on April 9, 1998 to Betty Brawner Moore, gaining three step-daughters. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Slick loved every minute he had with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Slick was a member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
On Monday, September 10, 2012 the Lord called him home. Slick's family and many friends will greatly miss him, but our loss is Heavens gain.
Funeral services for Delson "Slick" Moore were conducted Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11 am from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Anthony Hale and Elder J.E. Shoulders officiating. Randall Moore, Kenny Moore, Danny Lamb, Josh Watson, Ernie Mullet, and Coney Swindle served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.
Slick is survived by, Wife, Betty Moore, Sons, Stevie (Gail) Moore, and Danny Moore, daughter, Tammy (Danny) Lamb all of Lafayette, TN, Brother, Melvin (Sammy) Moore of Lafayette, TN, Step Children, Becky Steen of Scottsville, KY, Rita Driver, and Wanetta Dallas both of Lafayette, TN, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren.
