Obituary of Jackson James Allen

James Allen Jackson was born on October 3, 1917 in Dickson County, Tennessee to the late Joe Green Jackson and Ocie Annie Reynolds Jackson. He was one of six siblings born to this family. As a young man, his days were spent farming. James later served in the United States Army, during World War II. After returning home, he went to work for Jakes Foundry and later worked for Myers Truck and Castor Company, where he retired in 1978. On April 7, 1956, James married the love of his life, the former Velma C. Gregory, sharing fifty-five wonderful years together. They have two sons and five daughters that their lives revolved around. James always enjoyed helping care for the grandkids. James and Velma cherished their time together, and you seldom saw them apart. On March 18th of this year, Velma passed away and a large part of James went with her. Besides his wife and parents; brothers, Robert Jackson, and Frank G. Jackson, sisters, Dolly Counterman and Ruby Mae Jackson, and grandson, Jason Robinson also preceded James in death. He was saved as a young man and later in life joined Days Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church, where he was ordained a Deacon on June 30, 1991. James was always full of fun and everyone loved to be in his presence. He enjoyed cutting up and being the jokester in the crowd. James liked to pick on his guitar and sing, when he could. He also loved talking on the C.B. Radio. James talked to the many friends he had come to know, all over the world. On Sunday morning, September 23, 2012, James went to join Velma in Heaven.
