Obituary of Lorene Swindle Goad

On April 2, 1920, Lorene Swindle Goad was born to the late William Bailey Swindle, and Cynthia Paradine Stinson Swindle. She was one of six siblings born to this union. Lorene was married to the love of her life, Sammie C. Goad making a home and raising two children, Sammie preceded her in death in 1977. Besides her husband and parents; brothers, Thomas Swindle, Guy Swindle, and Junior Swindle, sister, Gertrude Perrigo, and granddaughter, Tracy Dodd also preceded Lorene in death. Lorene was not an out-going person. She felt that her place was at home, Lorene was such a dedicated wife and mother. Lorene hands never stayed idle. In the summer time, she worked in the vegetable garden and canned everything she could. When it came winter time, it was piecing and making quilts. Lorene had made several quilts in her life and she was also a talented seamstress. When time allowed, Lorene liked talking to family and friends on the phone. She was a member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. On Tuesday, September 25th, the Lord called this loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother home. Lorene's family and many friends will greatly miss her, but our loss is Heaven Gain. She is survived by; Son and Daughter-in-law, Kenneth (Brenda) Goad, Daughter and Son-in-law, Linda (Ray) Williams, Grandchildren, Keith Williams, Kenny (Linda) Williams of Lafayette, TN, Sammie (Amanda) Goad of Westmoreland, TN, Michelle ( Richie) Williams of Gallatin, TN, Tammy (Gerald) Williams, Kenneth (Kathleen) Goad all of Oklahoma, Michael Goad of Florida, Sister, Jewell West of Decatur, IL, Sister-in-law, Margret Swindle of Lafayette, TN, Cousin and good friend, Mildred Snyder of IL, 7 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, also survive. Funeral services for Lorene Goad were conducted Friday, September 28th at 1 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Kevin Slayton, and Elder Joey Hackett officiating. Keith Williams, Kenny Williams, Matthew Witcher, Marcus Payne, Keith James, and Sammie Goad served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery.
