Obituary of Elbert Ray Godsey

Elbert Ray Godsey was born in Hazard, Kentucky on July 20, 1950 to the late Arthur and Bertha Baker Godsey. He was one of five siblings born to this union. Besides his parents, three sisters, Barbara Jean Felther, Betty Lou Godsey, and Effie Mae Godsey also preceded Elbert in death. On September 7, 1991, Ray was married to the love of his life, Donna Sue McCall Godsey. They shared twenty-one years together and one daughter. Ray also had two daughters from a previous marriage. Ray loved and cherished his wife and daughter. Ray worked as a young man, but became disabled around 1990. He enjoyed watching T. V. and using his camera to take pictures. He truly loved photography. He also enjoyed taking trips with Donna to stroll around Wal-Mart or Freds. Although Ray was not a member of a local church, he believed in God, and he loved to read the bible. He was of the Baptist belief. On Friday, September 28, 2012, Elbert Ray Godsey passed away. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Ray is survived by; Wife, Donna Godsey of Lafayette, TN, Daughters, Susan Rae Godsey of Lafayette, TN, Melissa Godsey, and Teresa Godsey both of Ohio, Brother, Brad (Gloria) Godsey of Amelia, Ohio, and four grandchildren. Funeral services for Ray Godsey were conducted on Monday at 11 am from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder J. E. Shoulders officiating. Randy East, Scotty McCall, Donnie Likens, Jeff East, Charlie Jones, and Mike East served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.
