Obituary of Mildred Irene Shrum Stinson

Mildred Irene Stinson was born in Macon County, on January 16, 1927 to the late Lattie Cole and Ruthie Driver Cole. She was one of nine siblings born to this union. As a young lady she was married to Gordon Ray Shrum. They made a home and raised 2 children together. Ray preceded her in death in 1981. Mildred was later married to James Oneal Stinson who also preceded her in death in 2005. Besides her husbands and parents; brothers, Prentice Cole, C.D. Cole, and 5 infant siblings also preceded her in death. Mildred worked for Form-Fit Rogers as a seamstress for over twenty-five years, before retiring. Mildred loved being around her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, needle work (especially crocheting), and cooking for her family. Everyone that knew Mildred dearly loved her. She was such a loving person with a gracious heart. She was a dedicated member of the Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church. On Thursday October 18, 2012 the Lord called Mildred home. She will be greatly missed here on Earth, but our loss is heaven's gain. Funeral services for Mildred Shrum Stinson were conducted Saturday, Oct. 20th at 2 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Guthrie Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Drury Cemetery. Mildred is survived by, Daughter, Kathy (Steven) Hire of the Haysville Community in Macon County, TN, Son, Gary (Shelta) Shrum of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Lyle (Rachel) Shrum of Franklin, KY, Lisa Dailey of Bowling Green, KY, Ashley (Kasi) Hire of the Haysville Community in Macon County, TN, Amy Hire of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alan Hire of the Haysville Community, Brother, J. C. (Naomi) Cole of the Rocky Mound Community, Sister-in-law, Maxine Shrum of Nashville, TN, and seven Great-grandchildren also survive. Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, in charge of arrangements.
