Obituary of James Cook

James Phillip "Speedy" Cook was born in Macon County, on August 28, 1945 to the late Carlos McKinley "Joe" Cook and Lucy Corine Jones Cook. He married the former Linda Frances Driver on January 4, 1980. They shared thirty-two years together. James had three children and two step children that meant everything to him. Family always came first for James he was such a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. James worked as an electrician for most of his life, until he became disabled. He also enjoyed tinkering in the garage trying to fix about anything. In James's spare time, he loved to go fishing and watch wrestling on television. He was a member of Highland General Baptist Church. On Saturday, October 27, 2012, James went home to Heaven. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services for James were conducted Tuesday at 11 am, from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Harold King officiating. Nicky Wix, Leslie Cook, Scottie Sliger, Brad Penick, Eddie Violett, Adam Ray, and Eric Jones served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Hayesville Cemetery. He is survived by, Wife, Linda Cook, Daughters and sons-in-law, Hope Cook, Jaimie (Adam) Ray all of Lafayette, TN, and Penny (Brad) Penick of Westmoreland, TN, Step Daughters, Karen McCoin, and Jennifer (Greg) Laws all of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren, Kara Wix of Knoxville, TN, Kristan (Eric) Jones, Kacie Ray, Angelina Cook, and Kayli Ray, Step- Grandchildren, Zack Laws, Josh Laws all of Lafayette, TN, Hunter Penick, and Miller Penick of Westmoreland, TN.
