Obituary of Evelyn H. White

Evelyn Hire White was born in Macon County, Tennessee, on October 11, 1937 to the late Samuel Robert Hire and Ida Freeman Hire. She was one of seven siblings born to this union. As a young lady, Evelyn was married on March 5, 1955 to Durl C. White. They cherished their life together as they worked on their Dairy Farm, and raised their son, Mickey. Besides her husband and parents; son, Mickey Lane White, brothers, Wayne "Cotton" Hire, Sam Hire, Jr., E.J. Hire, and John Henry Hire, sisters, Ruth Stone, and Nadine Carr also preceded her in death. Most of Evelyn's life was spent preparing taxes for the public. She worked for White & Jent Tax Service here in Lafayette, until she retired. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, and raising flowers. She loved to spend her weekends going to yard sales and working crossword puzzles. Evelyn was a member of Oakdale General Baptist Church. On Friday, November 8, 2012, the Lord called Evelyn home. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Funeral services for Evelyn White were conducted on Sunday, November 11, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Carson officiating. Interment followed in the Oakdale Cemetery. Evelyn is survived by; Granddaughter, Maria White, Great-grandson, Tristan Wyatt both of Gallatin, TN, Special nephew, Jimmie Cleary, Sisters-in-law, Hollis Hire, and Nancy Sullivan all of Lafayette, TN, several other nieces and nephews, also survive.
